window insulation

Why is it Essential to Get Your Windows Insulated by Professional Roofing Installation Services Providers?

Insulation is essential for the comfort and indoor environment of your home. Ideally, a home should be appropriately sealed from outdoor elements unless the residents want to let air in by opening a window or a skylight. Your home uses insulating materials present in the attic, walls, and your home’s roof to maintain a pleasant indoor temperature even when outside weather is extremely cold or hot. However, homeowners often overlook the window insulation, which is also a significant inlet for outdoor air. Roofing Installation and home insulation Services such as us at Red Oak Exteriors advise homeowners to maintain proper window insulation for optimal comfort. There are several reasons why we recommend getting your home windows insulated; if you are wondering why then we suggest you keep reading this article?

Benefits Of Window Insulation As Per The Top Roofing Installation Company In Colorado

Home insulation and roofing Installation companies such as us often come across homes suffering from high dust in the air only to find out that their windows aren’t insulated properly. Proper home insulation is not just a matter of comfort; it is often a matter of health and well-being for individuals that suffer from respiratory illnesses and allergies. While the causes of poor insulation range from worn insulation to improper window installation, the benefits you get by protecting your home windows are as follows:

Reduced energy bills: When windows aren’t insulated, they allow for outside air to come into the house and make the job of your heating and air conditioning unit a lot more complicated. So, as a result, your cooling and heating appliances have to work extra to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. This extra work that the heating and cooling systems have to perform comes at the cost of additional energy consumption and higher energy bills. Our home energy efficiency inspection team often gets called to address the complaints of higher energy bills to find multiple uninsulated windows. So something as simple as getting your windows insulated can save you thousands of dollars each year in energy bills.

More comfortable indoor environment: Uninsulated windows allow for dust and allergens to sneak into your home and cause problems for individuals with respiratory issues. Many allergens, such as pollen, should be kept outside the house to avoid discomfort. Even if the rest of your home is well insulated, a couple of uninsulated windows can allow allergens inside the home and cause problems. So by hiring our professional window insulation installation services, you can rest assured that all your family members are safe from outdoor allergens.

Constant indoor temperature: If your indoor temperatures fluctuate throughout the day, inadequate insulation is the most obvious culprit. Even if the insulation might not make up for a significant gap, the constant flow of outside air will cause your indoor temperature to fluctuate. So by getting your windows insulated, you can make sure your indoor home temperature doesn’t drop or rises uncontrollably.

The Expected Lifespan Of Solar Panels As Per The Top Solar Panel Installation Company In Colorado

At Red Oak Exteriors, our solar panel installation and replacement team have installed solar panels for many houses, and reports of damaged solar panels are rare. So, in short, Solar panel installation in Colorado is something that you can benefit from for decades to come. It is common for solar panels to remain functional for more than 40 years; however, most solar panel manufacturers claim that their plates lose efficiency after 25 years. But wait, there is a catch! If the efficiency of your solar panel doesn’t drop below 80%, there is no real need to replace it, and our solar panel experts agree that you can continue to use your solar panels without any issues. Different types of solar panels degrade at varying rates every year, meaning their efficiency drops at variable rates each year. Installing high-quality solar panels with a low degradation rate is the way to go if you want to benefit from your investment for years to come.

How Durable Is A Solar Panel, And Can It Get Damaged Easily?

The reason why solar panels last so long is that they are built to withstand harsh environmental factors. The solar panel itself is a thin panel that is not durable at all. However, solar panel manufacturers use specialized tempered glass to enclose fragile solar panels. So, in general, the higher the quality of glass coating used to hold the panel, the more durable it will be. Solar panels sold here in Colorado and around the US are meant to withstand the weather of different areas of the country. They can withstand wind speeds over 90 miles per hour which are enough to tear away roofs and trees. Hail and rain don’t pose a threat to solar panels either, so unless someone deliberately damages a solar panel, it will stay intact way past its warranty period.

Do Solar Panels Have An Expiry Date?

There is no expiry date attached with solar plates, and if you get them installed by professionals such as us, you also get a warranty on the installation. We take pride in our services, and with our expertise in roofing and home energy efficiency, you get added value during the solar panel installation process. Not to mention we offer the best solar panels that last longer and can withstand the Colorado weather.

Siding contractors

Things To Consider When You Are Picking Siding Contractors For Your Home Siding Project

A well-maintained home is not only impressive to look at, but it can also make the residents of the house feel good about their residence. While you don’t have to replace your home siding frequently, there comes a time when your home siding is too worn to perform its job correctly. Since home siding replacement is not easy to perform, it is best to get it done from Siding contractors such as Red Oak Exteriors. However, when you pick a siding contractor for your home siding replacement project, you should carefully consider different factors about the contractor before making the final choice. While we would love to give every home in Colorado a perfect siding replacement, not all siding contractors are the same. So if you are looking to hire a siding contractor, then you should read this article until the end before doing so.

The Proper Way to Hiring a Colorado Siding Repair Company

When hiring a Colorado siding repair or replacement company, you should do at least some research before hiring a company. So without further ado, here is the proper way of hiring a siding company by considering the following things:

Experience of the company: Just like you wouldn’t want someone who is learning how to perform surgery to operate on you, you wouldn’t want an inexperienced company handling your home siding replacement. We often get customers who have had a bad experience with amateur siding companies before contacting us to fix their home siding. We have more than 15 years under our belt in home siding and roofing replacement, allowing us to handle the most challenging siding replacement jobs. However, we don’t just rely on experience as our siding replacement team is well trained and equipped to perform siding replacements efficiently.

Location of the company: The distance of the siding repair company from the site is also an essential factor to consider when hiring a siding company. That is because when you hire a siding company, they will have to arrive at your location along with their equipment and siding materials. So the further away the company is based from your home, the longer it will take for them to transport everything. Not to mention a local company will be familiar with the siding trends and building codes of your area. The most important reason you should consider the proximity of the siding company is that if you discover any issues in the siding after installation, you can quickly get a hold of the siding company if it is based near you.

Specialization in siding replacement: While you may be able to find handymen and contractors that claim they can handle a siding replacement, the truth is that siding replacement requires specialized skills and tools to perform. That is why we have a dedicated team of siding experts that specialize in replacing and repairing home siding. So when you are hiring a company for your home siding replacement, make sure that you hire one specializing in siding replacement.

storm damage repair

How Much Does it Cost to Hire Storm Damage Repair Services of a Reputed Roofer?

Roofs are meant to keep your home and family safe during storms and other harsh weather conditions. However, more often than not, your home roof may itself get damaged during powerful storms. That is where storm damage repair services of roofing companies come in. Reputed roofers such as us at Red Oak Exteriors treat a storm damage repair call as an emergency since a damaged roof can not only be dangerous but can cause more damage if left unrepaired. So if your home experiences storm damage due to a strong storm, then we recommend calling us as soon as possible to get the damage repaired. However, one common question most homeowners eventually ask when they experience storm damage to their roof is how much it will cost to fix it. So to help anyone who might be wondering about how much they can expect to pay for repairing storm damage to their roof, we have created this great article, and we suggest you read it until the end.

Factors Affecting the Cost of Storm-Damaged Roofing Repair Services

Since each home is unique, the cost of repairing the roof after a storm has damaged it also varies, so there is no fixed cost of storm damage repair. When hiring roofing repair services to get storm damage repaired, you can expect to pay a few hundred dollars if the damage is not extensive. However, if your roof has been severely damaged, it can cost thousands of dollars to repair since a complete roofing replacement is often necessary. So to help you get a better idea of how much you can expect to pay for storm damage repair, here are some factors you need to keep in mind when estimating the cost of storm repairs:

The extent of the damage: This one is a no-brainer; the more extensive the damaged area of the roof is, the higher the cost of repairs will be. For example, if you have a few shingles missing after a storm, our team can fix them at a minimal cost. However, in most cases, storm damage can span beyond a few broken shingles, and if that is the case, we may have to perform an extensive emergency storm damage repair which can raise the cost.

The roofing materials that your roof is made of: When fixing a section of your home’s roof, we try to make sure that the repaired area of the roof matches the intact one. To achieve this, we have to use the same materials as the ones used in constructing your home roof. So if your roof has been made using expensive materials such as wood or metal, you can expect to pay more for the storm damage repair.

The slope of your roof: Roofers find it hard to work on steep roofs, and when the roof has been compromised during a storm, it can make it even riskier for the roofing team to make their way. So if your roof is too steep, it can cost more in the form of a higher labor fee to repair the storm damage.

Are you looking for roof repair companies to fix your roof after a storm? Well, you have arrived at the right spot; all you have to do is leave us a message, and we have you covered.

What Are Some Common Hail Damage Types That Roofing Companies in Colorado Come Across?

Hail damage, just like the hailstones that cause them, comes in different shapes and sizes, and there are different factors during a hailstorm that cause damage to your roof. Depending upon the severity of the storm, you may get away with surface-level damage that is mostly cosmetic, or you may end up with functional damage to your roof. Either way, roofing companies in Colorado such as us at Red Oak Exteriors come across some types of hail damage more commonly others. If you are wondering about the common types of roof damage that roofing companies get called to repair, this article will be of major help for you.

Common Types Of Hail Damage Colorado Roofing Contractors Repair

Reputed Colorado roofing contractors such as us at Red Oak Exteriors come across the following types of hail damage regularly:

Damaged or dented gutters: Since gutters are mostly made out of metal, it is not uncommon to see dented or cracked roof gutters after a hail storm has passed. Depending upon the extent of dents and damage to the gutters, our hail damage repair team can either suggest a repair or replacement of the gutters.

Cracked shingles: Shingles make up the outermost layer of your home’s roof, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that shingles are commonly damaged or cracked during a hail storm. While shingles are made using durable materials and don’t break easily, big enough hailstones can crack and ever tear shingles on your roof. Whenever we get called for a roof inspection after a hail storm, we pay extra attention to the roof shingles to ensure they are not damaged or cracked. That is because damaged shingles can lead to water leaks in the roof and further damage to the other layers of your roof.

Loss of shingle granules: Often, the shingles may not get cracked due to hailstone impact, but the granules on top of the shingles can get removed. Shingles with damaged granules can make way for water and other elements to reach the asphalt underneath. So if you notice a loss of granules and indentations on top of the shingles, it is not something you should take lightly. As an experienced roofing company, we stress the importance of replacing shingles with indentations and loss of granules to protect the asphalt and allow for proper water drainage.

A weakened self-seal strip of shingles: Shingles are attached to the roof using self-sealing strips, and these strips are essential to ensure waterproofing and keeping shingles secured in place. However, hail can weaken the self-seal strips, and this can result in shingles coming off from the roof completely. If you notice missing shingles from your roof, then chances are weakened self-seal strips are the reason, and you should get the sealing replaced with a new one.

Apart from the above-mentioned scenarios commonly experienced by hail damage, there are several other types of hail damage your home’s roof may suffer from. If you think your home’s roof has been damaged due to a hail storm and you are looking for Colorado roofing solutions’ providers, then look no further. Just contact us, and our team will be there to inspect and repair your roof in no time.

Why is it Essential to Get Your Home Insulation Replaced by Roofing Companies in Colorado?

When you think about your exterior home maintenance, one significant component often overlooked is your home insulation. While other parts of your house, such as the roof and siding, are visible to you, the insulation can’t be seen directly, yet it plays a crucial role in keeping your house cool or warm. This reason makes it essential to get your home insulation replaced by reputed insulation and roofing companies in Colorado, such as us at Red Oak Exteriors when it has reached the end of its life. Most homeowners are tempted to delay their house’s insulation replacement; however, there are important reasons why you should get your home insulation replaced as soon as it starts to fail. This article will walk you through why a timely insulation replacement is necessary, so read on.

Reasons To Get Your Home Insulation Replaced By A Roofing And Insulation Installation Company

As mentioned earlier, your home’s insulation is essential for keeping the temperature in check and keeping your family feeling comfortable. However, there are some not-so-obvious reasons why getting damaged insulation replaced are in your best interest. With that being said, here is why getting the insulation replaced by our roofing and insulation installation company is essential:

Pests and critters: Insulation sits within your exterior home walls, and it helps trap excess heat or cold from the outside environment. However, if insulation material has started to fail or it has already failed, it can give way to insects and critters such as rats and birds to call your home walls their home. Our insulation replacement team has seen homes with raccoons, rats, and insects living within the walls since the insulating material has failed over time. So, if you think your home insulation might be reaching the end of its life, it is essential to install new insulation or get it repaired to prevent critters from making their way into your exterior walls.

Energy bills start to increase: One of your home insulation’s significant functions is to keep your home temperature well within the comfortable range. By doing this, your home insulation also takes some of the load off of your house’s cooling and heating systems and helps keep the energy bills low. However, a failing or completely failed home insulation won’t regulate your home temperature that can put a lot more stress on your home air conditioning. One of the most common complaints we get that prompt us to look for faulty home insulation is increased energy consumption. So if you want to make sure your home energy bills don’t shoot up, you should get in touch with Colorado-based local roofers and insulation contractors to get insulation replaced.

Roofing insulation and siding replacement companies such as us at Red Oak Exteriors recommend getting your home insulation regularly inspected to detect any damage earlier on. Not only can it help catch failing insulation in time, but it can also save you from a complete insulation replacement. Insulation can be repaired if the damage is detected at an earlier stage; with that being said, if you are looking for an insulation replacement in Colorado or surrounding regions, get in touch with us.

Signs That it’s Time to Replace Your Home Insulation Through Insulation And Roofing Contractors

Unlike other home roof components, when your home’s insulation fails, it often may not show any obvious signs. However, this doesn’t reduce the importance of timely insulation replacement. We at Red Oak Exteriors and other reputed Colorado insulation and roofing contractors often get called to look at home insulations once the damage is not repairable. That is because homeowners aren’t sure about the signs that tell them when their home insulation has started to fail. For anyone who isn’t sure about the signs of failing home insulation, we have put together this helpful guide, and we suggest you read this until the end.

If You Are Experiencing Strange Drafts In Your Home, Then It Is Time To Call Colorado Insulation And Roofing Contractors

Your home interior is supposed to be a sealed environment, and the only air that comes into your home should come from the windows when they are open. However, when all the possible inlets of air are closed, and you can still feel drafts of air inside your home, it is an obvious sign of failing insulation. Colorado insulation and roofing contractors, including our trained experts, suggest that any strange drafts in your home should never be ignored. That is because it often means the barrier between your home interior and exterior has been breached, and your home insulation is not keeping the air out.

Moisture In Your Home Insulation

Just like air isn’t supposed to get into your home, moisture is another unwanted element that insulations are meant to keep out. However, we are often called to inspect moisture in crawl spaces or the attics to find out that the insulation has become moist and the water the making its way into the home’s interior. While your home insulation should not be exposed to moisture if other components are working correctly, when the vents, roof, or siding of your home fails, the insulation can get wet. If your home insulation does get moisture damage, it is often not in a reparable condition. Most forms of insulation, especially the older ones, become useless once exposed to water and lose their integrity.

Signs Of Animal Or Insect Infestation In Your Home Insulation

Since your home insulation is supposed to fill the gap between your home exterior and interior, it is possible that when insulation is not correctly filling this gap, animals and insects can make their way into the walls. Here in Colorado, local roofers such as us often get called to inspect homes that have strange noises coming from the home walls. When we examine the homes’ walls, however, more often than not, insects or small animals are living in the space where the insulation has been damaged or crumbled. So if you are noticing animal activity in between your home walls, then chances are it’s time to replace your home insulation.

Happy February

Happy February from Red Oak Exteriors!

It seems like January just flew by. So, before we get any further, we here at ROE would like to reflect on the last year. We are happy to report that as an essential business we were not overly affected by the Global pandemic and statewide shutdowns. However, there were some challenging differences in our day-to-day business practices. Much of our consulting was performed virtually through Zoom or other online methods which we continue to do for the safety of our staff and clients. When necessary to meet in person we will always be wearing a mask and maintaining the proper social distancing.

Pandemic impacts

The pandemic also had an impact on the roofing industry in 2020 when some of the shingle manufacturers were required to shut down for 2 weeks at a time. The normal production hours of these plants were 24-hours a day 7 days a week, so you can imagine the shortages this caused. For those of you who had to change your shingle brand and/or color, thank you so much for being understanding in these challenging times. Covid-19 shutdowns have also created shortages of windows, siding and dimensional lumber.

The current expectation is that these shortages are going to continue well into 2021. This will affect costs and lead times for all contractors. Just like a stone tossed into a pond the ripples of these supply shortages are certain to affect many other areas of life. ROE is committed to keeping you up to date on these and other changes.

Supporting Local

Red Oak Exteriors is a proud supporter of Kids on Bikes, a local non-profit that supports community enrichment and kids’ health through advocating for getting outside on bikes! window replacement

How to Tell if You Need to Get Window Replacement Done for Your Home

Windows are not something we pay much attention to because we expect them to last a long time. While it is true that your home windows can last upwards of 20 years, there will eventually come a time when you will need window replacement. At Red Oak Exteriors, our team of qualified technicians has vast experience installing and replacing windows of residential properties. We often get calls from homeowners who want to know whether it is time to replace their home windows or hold off. If you are one of those homeowners who aren’t sure about the signs that tell you it is time for new windows, this article is for you.

You Need A Window Replacement If Your Windows Can’t Keep The Colorado Springs Weather Out

The most obvious sign that you need window replacement is when your home windows cannot keep weather elements such as rain, out of your home. Snow and rain can eventually take a toll on your window frames until they start leaking and rainwater or melting snow can seep into your home through damaged window frames. When we arrive to inspect a leaky window, it is usually entirely decayed or unrepairable; this is why we recommend homeowners keep an eye on the condition of their window frames. This might help you catch the decay early and save you the additional cost of a complete home window replacement.

In short, if your windows aren’t properly keeping the weather elements such as rainwater out, then it is a clear sign that a window replacement might be in order.

You Have Started Hearing A Lot More Noises And Sounds Than You Used To

Your home windows aren’t just meant to keep water, dust, debris, and wind out; they also work to partially soundproof your home. When the windows start giving in, you will start to hear more noise inside your home since the windows cannot effectively keep the noise out. A good way to test your home windows’ soundproofing is to listen for any vehicles that may be passing at a distance and if you can hear them inside the house, it could be a sign that your windows need to be replaced; it may also mean that your windows were not meant to be soundproof, so you should contact us to get your windows inspected before making a replacement decision.

Your Windows Are Not Opening Or Closing Properly

If you have opening windows at your home, they should operate without too much force. However, if you notice that windows might be stuck or can not be adequately closed, then chances are you need to start looking online for a company for the replacement of your windows.
